With the holidays at its peak and children running amok, it becomes extremely difficult to satisfy them. And that’s when all the crazy ideas pop in. While searching for an evening snack, I stumbled upon this gem. The outcome was awesome and it became an instant hit among the kids.

Adding egg white to a “Fry-Recipe” was totally new and words cannot describe the taste and texture it brings to the recipe. The prawn became soft and fluffy while added with the egg, and then when added with rice-maida-oats powder, it became crunchy. So overall you get both the feel of soft and fluffy while retaining the crunchiness after frying.

  • 1/4 kg Prawn (cleaned - there should be no water after cleaning)
  • 1 no Egg
  • 3/4 tbsp Chilli Powder
  • 1/2 tbsp Turmeric Powder
  • 1/2 tbsp Garam Masala
  • 1 tbsp Pepper Powder
  • 1/2 tbsp Ginger Garlic Paste
  • 1 tbsp Salt (as required)
  • 1/2 piece lemon
  • 6 tbsp Masala Oats
  • 3 tbsp Maida
  • 3 tbsp Rice Flour
  • 3 cup Oil (for frying)

  2. This is a quick recipe. So pour the one cup oil into frying pan and start heating the pan by placing it on the stove.
Getting the Prawn Mix Ready
  1. Take the prawn in a bowl and to that squeeze half lemon that we have.

  2. Add all the masala powders to this - Garam Masala, 1/2tbsp Chilli Powder, Turmeric Powder, Pepper Powder, Ginger Garlic Paste and Salt. Now mix well and marinate for 10 minutes.

  3. Add Maida, Rice flour, Salt, Masala Oats, 1/4 tbsp Chilli Powder and mix well. Keep it separately in a plate.

  4. Now to the USP of this recipe. Separate the egg white into a separate bowl.

  5. Add this egg white to the prawn masala and mix it well. We add egg white to make the dish soft and chewy!

Frying the Prawn Mix
  1. Now that the prawn masala is mixed with egg white, all we need to do is place the prawns into the Rice-Maida-Oats powder mix and cover them with in this powder. This will give the dish a nice crunchy bite!

  2. Once the prawns are ready, fry them in the oil (fry with medium flame). Once fried, move them to a separate plate and serve!
